Diablo 4 is bringing back the March of the Goblins event, though for this version, Blizzard has added a reputation track, Diablo 4 Boosting buy new rewards as well as new Treasure Goblins to hunt down. As Season 7 of Diablo 4 gets an extension by two weeks, Blizzard appears to be planning to fill the time with new events to keep players engaged.
Currently, players are in the middle of Diablo 4 Season of Witchcraft, placing the focus on the Tree of Whispers and the addition of powers that harken back to some abilities last seen with Diablo 3's Witch Doctor class. Season 7 also brought with it a heavily requested fan feature with the Armory, a way for players to save and switch between 5 different loadouts. Better yet, it's available within the Seasonal and Eternal Realm even after the season comes to an end. To keep things feeling fresh, Blizzard has also announced a new event coming very soon to Diablo 4.
With March on the horizon, Blizzard has announced the return of March of the Goblins to Diablo 4. As expected, players can see a rise in appearances of Treasure Goblins starting from March 4 and lasting through March 11, mirroring the event's last appearance in Diablo 4 last year. However, the biggest piece to this returning event is the new Treasure Goblins that will be calling Sanctuary home permanently, even after the event comes to an end.
Diablo 4 Adds New Goblin Variants
Odious Ector: Drops crafting materials, including Obducite in Torment tiers.
Gilded Baron: This one drops gold coins and Aberrant Cinders during Helltides.
Glittering Prym: This goblin features gems, Runes, and Scattered Prisms.
Curious Murl: This purple goblin is the keeper of Obols.
Gelatinous Syrus: This one splits into multiple goblins on death and features Legendary items and more.
Fancy Old Fedric: An extremely rare Goblin that has Mythic Unique items and a Resplendent Spark.
Alongside new Goblins to hunt down, this event also has its own reputation and rewards track for players to take part in. Essentially, for each goblin that is eradicated, players will earn reputation points that lead to rewards, including Diablo 4's rare Resplendent Spark. As players earn new ranks, it also passively increases the chance for Treasure Bag drops from these goblins as well.
It'll be interesting to see if these styles of events will become more commonplace during seasons, as Blizzard recently confirmed that Diablo 4 isn't getting a new expansion in 2025. Players will need to wait for 2026 to get a second expansion for Diablo 4, which ultimately indicates that previous plans for annual expansions aren't possible buy Diablo 4 Items. No other details about why the change of plans had to take place or what the theme of a second could be, so for now, fans will need to wait a bit longer.
